I've been wondering for a while now why you don't hear much around here about the Ilmore's. Probably because so many of us work on our own stuff, and for that BBC is the way to go.
Personally, I'm looking for big things from the Ilmore stuff. First, a lot of the high end cats are using them, which says something. They're ~300lbs lighter than an HP600 SCi and you don't have the reliability of a SC to worry about. Now they've got a 710hp at the same weight.
I've got a buddy who's been a hard core BBC boater all his life. He's working for Ilmore now, and has nothing but good things to say about them. Say's they're still staying conservative on the HP till they build a reputation, but that there's room to push them higher.
Not really sure how they compare in cost???
I'm sure they're a part of what's pushing Mercury Racing to bigger and better!!! Now that they're cloosed cooling, it's a shame the lower HP MR stuff can't be aluminum.

They seem to have a good track record so far.. Not to mention the same good things that bcarpman said.. Mopars base engine have been used before, just not the v10's.. A long time back the 440, 318 & hemi were marinized by Chrysler. They took a lickin & kept on tickin.. We still have some of them frequent our shop for service in the Old Century boats.. I thing anything bad that you may occassionaly hear is probably more so fear of the unknown.. Change scares some people..

I have to echo Donzi33 on the "Old Mopar" stuff they were tough shame Chrysler Corp did not continue to pursue the marine field. Wonder if someone will be bringing out the new 5.7 Hemi it is showing exceptional promise.

As Bobby Deniro said, "I've heard things"..
I was wondering if they are going to get back in to it myself.. I have heard some rumours, but thats all they were is rumors.. It would be neat to have them back though.. I also have heard from Lee Holman that the Holman-Moody Ford stuff may be making a return to the marine market..!! Jamie / Lakeside

Airtime, my old boat is a 05 Lavey cat, Bowrider, Crockett 565 BBC, Whipple, 930HP, 110mph. I sold the motor and outdrive and installed an '06 496HO with CMIs and its for sale. I have 2 grandchildern who need to be pulled on tube, get in and out of the boat easily, not to mention the grandmother and mother plus my "old" buddies.
My lift is pushing it lengthwise to have a 27 on it plus I need to slow down at 59 years old. The 24 will probably run 90+, I hope. The water I boat on is flat for the most part so the attributes of a 2750 are probably not needed. I toyed with the idea because it is such a wonderful boat but it is not available in a walkthrough bowrider. Again, old age is catching up.
They painted the mold today and the Camires are planning to take the boat to the LA boat show and Powerboat trials. The real test will be the kids on the tube and pleasing the women. Not a bad test. I'll let you know how it goes. Quent

Quent,
Good luck with your new ride. I think you'll like the V10. I here nothing but good things about them, fast and reliable.
Hey, I just heard the TRR is 7-7-07. Isn't that a little "close" to the 4th? Might reduce the turnout, as a lot of people will be on their summer vacations that week.
I will try to make it regarless.
Happy Holidays to You and your Family Quent,
Steve
