If you have a newer efi system step up to the Diacom software-the handhelds are pretty weak when you get to a 525 or new 496. The Rinda branded scanner is 399 and has the same functions as the Mercruiser one.

The scanners will work with the newer engines, but the amount of info available on the Diacom is huge and very helpful in some instances. Of course if you need to purchase a laptop too then the cost is much higher, but I am much happier with the Diacom over a scanner.
