2008 is going to be another good year for all diesels!!! Ford, Chev and Dodge are all out for the market and its insane. I remember the days of my old 6.5 turbo in the chev and compare it to my new dodge its amazing. There all great trucks and with them all fighting we are all in for some bad a$$ diesels in the comming years. It sure is alot of fun pulling up to some punk kid in the dually and kickin his A$$ to the next stoplight. Makes them look twice and feel real stupid!!

A buddy works with Ford is telling me to wait a year before buying the new diesel. There are some pretty nasty bug that they are trying to work out. They are in production now, and will be on lots 1/1/07 or real close. They (Ford) expects some first year problems (again) with the diesel.
Don't know what the problems are, but they are NOT worked out yet of the 6.4L.

The 6.0 problems got worked out on the 05+ models. Those have been doing great. I can say my 6.0 has been trouble free.

I would have to agree with that these days......there seems to be trouble for a year or 2 in many manufacturers products....

Ford has a known history of " helping" International with "improvements" to the point of IH telling Ford that Ford can cover the warranty rather than IH. Given the launch of the 6.0 and the above info- I'd wait.

Cummins seems to get left alone and does more endurance testing prior to release- I'd buy any of their new stuff without hesitation- but I'm biased cause I've owned 2 (on the second one now) for almost 200k miles, 90% of it towing 10k+.

Not sure on the GM- though I've known of some injector issues which would've been a major cost without the warranty.

Most buyers run the trucks as grocery getters and trade before the engine warranty is up- so if you are willing to suffer the potential downtime headache buy the truck that rips your trigger.

I was told the same thing the problem is the variable rate turbo, and this engine has two!!!.My 06 International 4700 DT466 with a variable rate turbo is getting its third turbo on Tuesday.I would not touch this engine for a while.

If the big three don't stop doing their final development on customers rigs, they will lose even the most die hard loyalists to the japanese (who will be in the big rig show shortly).

My 06' 6 litre is great (I had an 04' with emmisions trouble). The tranny is my major concern. Runs great now but willit keep up under heavy use?
