F-350 with Banks boost system
#1
I have had several times when my 05 F-350 would not start. After a period of time (sometimes days) it would fire with no issues. I finally took it to a dealership. They called and said the starting issue was the chip which was confusing the "brain" . They removed the chip and disconnected the banks system and it is supposed to be fine.
What do you think?

What do you mean by "would not start?"
Would turn over, but never fire? Would not even try and start? Would start and then die?
Do you have a Banks Turbo (housing)? Or just the Chip? Did you have anything done to the cold start valve/system?
Run your question by www.thedieselstop.com in the 6.0L Engine and Drivetrain section, but they are going to ask you more questions like I did.

Might also try this area too: 6.0L Upgrades & Aftermarket: http://forums.thedieselstop.com/ubbt...=0&Board=ubb40
In Florida, I doubt you would have this problem, but on my 7.3 with a 6 position adjustable chip by BullyDog; if I have the chip turned up to far, it won't keep running on cold mornings. It needs to be turned down to stock in order for the cold-start valve to work properly to get the motor heated up; as it all has to do with how much fuel is being forced into the motor.

On my 05 I have the banks big hoss bundle. comes with the six gunner tunner. Never had a problem starting. Though the programer did go out on me...the box would flash the two lights (on the box) in a pattern that the tuners manual could tell you what was wrong... i think it had to be running...banks eventually said the tunner was bad and sent me a new one, no problems since. Though mine would either have no turbo pressure or it would pressure way up but no power. Could be something similar, once we un hooked the banks stuff ran fine. Had to call banks and walk through some test, then they told me to return mine and they sent me a new one...that was over 15,000 miles ago. So maybe you should call banks, you won't like driving a stock truck after a moded one

Picked it up greasy and dirty. That did not get me off on the right foot with the service manager. He was decent and had somebody clean the floor mat. I washed the grease on the outside off myself.
Disconnect the Banks box. $200.00.
Oil Change $21.95
Oil Filter $19.95
Oil $30.00
Rotate and balance tires $429.00.
All the tires had to be removed and repair seven nail holes.
I almost chit when I saw that one.
The Banks equipment is still there, just unplugged.
So it is back home clean and it starts.
