Looking at used Tow Rides now so give me the good and bad on the gasser G.M's 6.0 or 8.1.
Curious to see if 100K miles is to far along to bother with

I have 50K on an 03 6.0 motor....GET THE 8.1, GET THE 8.1, GET THE 8.1!!!!
The fuel burn is less than 1 mpg difference and the 8.1 puts out 95ft/lbs of addl TQ!

I have an 01' 6.0 Burban LT with 65K miles, no problems here. Could use more low end grunt but the mid-upper range power is decent.
I need a bigger truck (DMax) to pull the Apache so I may look to sell in the near future.

I had an 03 GM with the 6.0 and never liked it much. I thought the fuel it burned was excesive for the power. Get the 8.1 at least you get the pull .But after owning a couple Ford 6.0 Diesels there is no way I would buy gas again. I keep my trucks for only 2 years or 100k whatever comes first so I never get into any real service issues . Good luck
