Can a 24 banana with twin ob be competitive in any of the p class races? I was looking into restoring an old Banana Race boat but am concerned that a 24 that tops out at 75 will be to slow in class P5. I will have to run in the corners just to keep up. I can't run it in p6 where it belongs because they only allow single engines. I am new to racing so any help would be great here thanks.

P5 class in OPA is very competitive. we ran pretty much the whole season in 2006 and had a great time. ran a batboat in class 5 and an AMT cat in class 2. you have a tough boat to place in the series. have you contacted Smitty an discussed it with them? i do think you are better suited to class 6 but not sure how they handle the no twins rule. there are some pretty serious and very seasoned racers out there, you can probably run with them but the extra length of the bigger boats will make it easier to stay out front. trust me . . . i saw alot of transoms this year
