The same thing mine did..........."we will no longer cover your house" And then came the bill from that state run outfit. My bill went from 360 a year to 1700

But I had the last laugh.............I sold the house!!! I told them to shuv that bill up their donkey!!!

Our new Gov. is pissed off at the Insurance deal here in the state and the Fl. state govt is working on some things. Something about the state will cover the losses after a certain amount, but they have to provide insurance for everyone and not gouge them! That's about all I could decipher because every morning drive in to work usually involves me cussing at other drivers

I just got the same letter from Tower Hill getting dropped in March. My neighbor just had to go through Citizens and went from $3500 with his old carrier to $11,000 on the new premium.

My mom received the letter from Allstate in the spring after being a customer for over 30 years. The new company was going to be about 50% more expensive. She made a few calls asking if Allstate really was going to treat an elderly lady that way, and they took her back...for $300 MORE per year. Scumbags.

Got the same here , that citizens deal ia a rip off but better than nothing at all. Shopping right now so I'll see what happens. I know my maintenence has doubled in the past couple years due to insurance. My taxes are climbing too as I'm not homesteaded in Fla.

We Fla. home owners are F'd either way. I received my letter in the mail yesterday when I got home from work. My flood insurance remained the same while homeowners went up $1100 (never have made a claim, either) for the upcoming year. Not even the GD common courtesy to give a dude a reach-around.

I know of several friends that are moving out of Florida to Georgia. I can't believe the horror stories I hear about taxes and insurance for Fla home owners - CRAZY!

If you're eligible to get USAA, I'd check with them first. Our house is with them and I just got my renewal for 07-08 and the yearly premium went down $20. The state only allowed them an average increase of 16.5% across the board. (Not sure where you are in the state, but for reference we're in St. Cloud, outside of Orlando. ) We also have our cars with them and they're about the best around.

On another note, my inlaws also have USAA, and they live in Punta Gorda. When Charlie came through they took good care of them.

I got dropped by Towerhill recently, had no choice at the time but go with Citizens. Premium more than doulbled. There is another carrier besides Citizens that has just entered the Fl market. Call your agent.
My boat Ins. went up $300 & now the Wind storm deductible is $7500-00. Florida has become expensive place to live
