I just picked up a 2005 382 Fastech.... It has 575sci's in it. What type of Sea Strainers would you recommend I install? Livorsi, Gil or ???? I boat on the South shore of Long Island, tons of sea weed.

From what i understand they now are standard on the 600sci's...
To be honest with you, i have no idea where they are going to mount it.. i have to pick out the correct one, so i'm not replacing it after 2 years.

The reason I was asking was because we added two to my boat and there wasn't but one place to put them.....it depends what other options you have too (genset, holding tank). I forget which ones we put in....Gil I think.

some of the other strainers on the market will pack with grass very easily, and sediment because of the small holes in the mesh they use to straine the incoming water.
good luck

dibari17, i would say to use the Hardin Marine sea strainers, being that i too as well as my clients boat on the south shore of long island. with all the sea weed and eel grass especially in suffolk, the hardin units work very well. easy to clean, and are pretty to look at. it also has a bung in it to use as a fresh water flush.

yes the are. also try to use radiused fittings if you have to. and a ball valve. try to keep them all stainless steel to prevent corrosion from dissimiliar metals. this gent provided his own ball valve.
also remember that evry 90 degree fitting you install is the samme as adding 3 1/2 feet of hose to the water system. so if you not rite off the transom as this install was keep it in mind.
