Default 496HO Headers/Manifolds..aftermarket ?'s

I have a friend who bought a 2006 Cobalt 246 w/496HO Bravo3....it has the corsa quick & quite..he ordered the Eddie Marine Manifolds and risers but he is told that the production is held up on them because when Mercury designed the HO to go in that boat they changed the angle of the risers 4*...so Eddie marine needs to do the same and if you try the ones they have now the temp sensor goes off........Anyways, I know that there are many 496 headers out now, so would someone else have a set that would work in his application? Thanks guys..

If the manufacturer changed the angle from a stock Bravo template he will need custom tails.

Let us know if we can help.

No, I believe is was Mercury that made the change, not Cobalt..I thought this would be a blanket type setup that would be found in other boats as well...but maybe not?

Maybe EMI thought they could just use the same risers that were used on their 454/502 manifolds and then they found differences??

I dont think that it was changed by merc. It may be a custom angle req by cobalt. I have seen that type of thing happen in the past. Kirk is right you may need custom tails if you run cmi.. We are also distributors for EMI's products.. A lot of the products they make are great, However I would only on a personal preference use their manifolds on non 496 stock applications. I have heard of a person with a 496 in a baja with an overheat problem as well. IMO I would use the new Dana flow torque system which we are a distributor for as well.. tell your friend to give me a call if I can be of help.. Jamie / Lakeside 570-639-2628

That's not really a go-fast boat/hull, is it? He might not see much bang for the buck.

Not really..more of a ski/recreational boat..it has a SS tower on it..right now it runs 61 GPS after some massaging on the props over the winter.

As of now, today! I believe that only Dana and CMI make a header/header manifold in a full kit that will bolt on to a stock 496 and work! I believe that Dana is the only one that has risers that will bolt up without modifications to most quick and quiet, captains choice, etc. switchable systems without custom tails. CMI can build custom tails and adaptors that will allow 496's in some cases to reconnect to the switchable systems. These are also the only two manufacturers who have tested, published and proven the performance of their systems. Just my personal knowledge. Hope it helps.
