Default Header recommendation please

I'm really confused on this.Read every thread on headers and still dont know which headers to buy.
I've got a 1997 Scarab 23 502mpi with the cast iorn exhaust manifold which has to go.I want some very nice, light weight headers for the boat.
Can someone tell me what headers I need and where to get them. Also, since the motor will be breathing a little better will the ECM need to be remapped or programed?

You could just throw on a set of gil manifolds, if you want to spend the extra moneyput on cmi or stelling. Unless your modifiying the motor the headers are not going to make a huge performance difference. If you are planning on procharging the motor the gils will be fine, or stainless marine would be a good choice also.

Thanks for the input.Looks like I was making this more difficult than it is.I think the Gil manifold is a good idea and will look into that.

Stainless marine works great on 502 efi, lasts forever you also should use long (aprox 20) tailpipes on that engine. That engine is very prone to reversion with stock length tailpipes.

Eddie marine and Imco have a nice set of the log style headers.

The stainless marine manifolds are butt ugly but work very well, especially if you have intentions of adding a procharger in the future,Smitty

Default Revolution Marine

For your boat a set of Revolution Marine headers are going to work great. They are also very low cost and come in polished or powder coated cast aluminum.

I suggest the CMI Uni-Top headers..not real expensive but very nice looking..And they will give more room to winterise or change/check plugs
