Default Why So Little Attention to Windshielding by Performance Boat Manufacturers?

Just curious why is there still no windshielding or over-the-head wind deflection on most performance boats? The boats have gotten faster, but other than a few exceptons, there has been little progress in this area (mostly just the same old aluminum frame ones on a few models), especially for the under 40' boats. Wind has been linked to eye problems, ear damage, and is just plain tiring over any distance. Do a search on OSO for "wind deflectors", and there are hundreds of people looking for wind relief. Why don't the boat manufacturers step up?

Windshield? We don't need no stinking windshields!

A lot of conventional windshields spoil deck lines, so Stormrider is dead on when he says "aesthetics." But more and more builders are going with quarter canopies and half canopies, which not only look great but also do a great job. More common on cats than V-bottoms, but look at some of the stuff outer limits has done with half canopies. Effective wind protection, without spoiling the look of the boat.

Another One Word Eliminator. I know a guy who at 80+ smokes a cigar while driving a 27 icc Daytona. Eliminator seams to put wind protection into the mix in their boats. The new 27 I have also has a motorized wind deflector plate in between the canopies for the rear passengers. Thats protection.

Cig does a decent job, so does OL with their wind deflectors. Many have the pop up wind deflectors also like my PowerPlay. None of them are perfect but get the job done to a decent extent. If I'm on a long run I get tired of the wind noise so I just pop in some ear plugs and they do the trick nicely. Those and a decent set of sunglasses do the trick well.

In the Cigarette Gladiator the windscreen blacks all the wind for the front passengers. You can wear a hat running 90mph or even talk on the phone. Now, the people in the back get blasted.
