Default Ram 2500 with hemi...worthwhile???

Curious what the opinion is of people that own the 2500/hemi combo? I'd love to go diesel, just not sure it's worth the extra $$ in initial buy, higher cost of fuel and hassle in winter.

Boat is a 29' single, aluminum trailer. no clue on weight.

2500 owners feel free to chime in...good/bad lets hear it....

i think you will regreat the hemi . the fuel savings alone is worth the price difference plus the hemi is a dog on power you have wind the **** out of it to get what it has . cummins the onily way . mine is a 03 qc 4x4 6speed cummins and would not traid it for nothing elese but a nother cummins .

I'd be all over a cummins if I could swing it. I've got a buddy who has a 2003 Ram 2500 hemi quad cab for $17K. Can't come anywhere close to a cummins for that. Boat is only a 29'.

Currently I have a ram 1500 daily driver and the tow vehicle is '97 GMC 3500 diesel dually. overkill truckwise yet not really impressed with the 6.5 diesel....just trying to consolidate to one truck if possible. If 2500/hemi aren't worthy then I'll look at '98-00 cummins rams, single wheel.

I owned a 2500 with the Hemi. I was not happy at all with it and I am only towing a 245. I could not pass up the deal and purchased it while I found a diesel I could live with. I would not ever use one to tow with again.

Find a good used Cummins. You will be much happier.

Fantastic- Try a test pull with the truck. The hemi is only 5.7 liters so NO TORQUE compared to big block.
