I've got my engine and prop dialed in pretty good and am thinking about the boats set up. Got under the boat tonight with a straight edge and thought about sanding the pad so it is flat. The boat has a slight hook built in the last few inches like most other boats. Forward of that the surface is very flat ,but think I think it could be flatter with a little sanding. Was thinking of sanding with a 12" board to flatten it out. What grit would you use? Anybody had any luck gaining any speed by do this?

it does work. and it helps fly the bow a little easier rather than using trim which slows your forward thrust.
i used a vikin air powered long board with 100 grit first , then followed by hand wit h180, 220, 400 wet , 600 wet. you may have to apply a coat of gelcoat after the 180 but out side of that its pretty straight forward.
