Default Dragon (Extremeboats 55) with first leg in Malta

Congradualtions to Mike Shelton and Jackie Hunt for taking a commanding win in the first day of racing in Malta yesterday. In seas that ran 12-15 feet they won the Super Sport class by approx. 5 minutes and finished ahead of many of the Evolution class boats.

Great Job and good luck today in the second leg.

Mike Shelton is a moderator over on Proprider.com

Should have a pretty full race report in the next day or so.

The Dragon is running in Super Sport.

Mike would be happy to answer your questions on Proprider. He is known as 'Dragon' on that forum.

Hi Gino

We are still running in SuperSport with the 525s and #6s
The way the system works is there is an average speed over the total race .... 79mph over the course of 80nm.

We also carry a lot more weight than your boat ... we need 4.5kg for every 1hp, so with 525s, we weigh about 10,200lbs!

When it is rough like it was in Malta ... 5m seas in places, we are not getting anywhere close to the average. We probably averaged 60+ mph in that sea.

There is supposed to be a GPS tracking system this year,
but I don't think it was working yet in Malta.

Mike
