if you are VERY careful laquer thinner on a clean white rag, so you know if you are melting the rubber. The thinner just evaporates and if you apply some armor all after it won't dry and crack. Upholstery is tougher than most believe, if its quality stuff. It might be tar on your seats, from the street. Acetone is even more effective and tricky to use but if you are quick and just use a whiff of it on a rag you won't ruin it or bleach the color. If you use a white rag you can see if you are losing pigment. Vice versa for a white uphostery, use a dark rag.
