Default How do I advance cam with 3 way cloyes timing chain, SBC

I need to advance my cam 4 degrees, I have a cloyes 3 way timing chain, I know the dot is straight up, what is the rectangle? what is the triangle, I know they are 4 degrees but I don't know which one I need for advancing it, I cannot find the paperwork...

I'd give Cloyes a shout, they should be able to help you out.

If you can't find the info, I have a paper at work with the info. Just did one the other day. I bring it home tomorrow.

245,
Make sure to check piston to valve clearance if you are going to advance the cam, especially if it is much larger than stock.

Great advice,

If you need to advance that much, the cam is way off. Boats dont work like cars because they do not coast.

Actually Cam Motion is well known for the advice they give, i have used them for years, always very happy with the results, he said the cam I have is a good cam but just needed the power band brought down, he would recommend a little different if I was buying one but since I was using what I had he said to advance it.
Alot of the crate engines I have looked at are running almost the same cam I have with power gains I am looking for.
