I Just purchased a 38 cig from Florida.
I live in Australia and OC. I am flying over to pick it up and ship it to Los Angeles end of next week.
What is involved in transferring the boat to my name? What papers should the guy selling it have on him?
As i am going to store the boat in OC california, do I need to re register it? When I sign the boat into my name do i need to pay anything....HELP?!!!!!!
P.s. I can't wait to drive it!.

Cool boat....Congrats!!
You need a bill of sale, a title on the boat and trailer signed over from the old owner to you. If the boat is coast guard documented, you need a coast guard bill of sale and an abstract.
I believe in California, you will pay less or no sales tax if the boat is sold by a private individual. Could be wrong about that though.

Cool boat, I was interested in that boat 5 or 6 years ago. It's got some interesting history, when new it was used as some sort of pace boat in the Americas's Cup sailing races. I also hears it was involved in smuggling Cubans
There was a ton of $$ spent on it within the last few years. A lot of boat for short money.
