Im wanting to redo my trailer this summer as a fun project. I think ill try my hand at painting. I figure if it turns out like hell, its only the trailer! I want to put new wheels on it too but didn't know if there were certain wheels you had to use. I found a set of cheap ultra's or something to that effect over at pepboys in a 14 or 15 inch rim. Could I use these or do I need a certain kind? I have a triple axle haulmaster.

The bigger the wheel/tire you can get the better, as they dissipate heat better.

Wheels and tires have specific weight ratings on them. You need to first make sure that the combined weight ratings of the wheels equal what you need to support the load. Then you need the same for the tires you opt for. Some like ST trailer tires by Goodyear Marathon. Others of us prefer a HD E-rated LT truck tire like the Firestone Transforce.

Of course, you will also need to make sure that the trailer wheels match your bolt pattern, and that the center hub opening is large enough to fit over your trailer axle hub.

thanks for the info, I think these wheels will work but i have to measure my hub and measure the wheel opening. They make them in almost every pattern. I think im going to go with a black wheel to match the black trailer and chrome spokes..

Trailer wheels are specific. Most automotive wheels are not strong enough for trailer use. Most 6 lug automotive wheels are rated at 2550. The same lug pattern in a trailer wheel is rated at 3000. I think it has to due with side loading wheels when turning tight and sliding wheels with a full load. Especially with a 3 axle. This would not happen in a pickup or car. Good Luck

On a tandem trailer if the wheels are rated at 2550lbs each that is 10200lbs, more than enough to handle most boats that are on a tandem trailer.

Waterboy has a triple. I used to use car rims and tires on my ski boats never a problem, not so sure with heavy stuff.

ill have to research it and find out.. so i just need to add full boat weight plus trailer weight and divide that by 6? or do i need to deduct for tongue weight since the truck is supporting a portion of that weight?

Look up the weight rating of the wheels you want and multiply it by 6, I guarantee your boat and trailer doesen't way close to the limit of the wheels. YOur tounge weight with the triple probably isn't much anyway. 32 dominator isn't terribly heavy for a 32 anyway.

Remember to add fuel, tools, gear, coolers, water, anchors, etc. etc.

Fuel is 6 lbs./gallon
Water is 8 lbs./gallon
