Looking to repower, the 496 is rated at 425hp and the 500hp is supposed to be 500hp. How many gens of 500hp's are there and are they all rated the same. I am looking at the carbed version.

The 500 HP is sexy ,,,, the 496 is turn key ..... or .. I have a 502 MPI with 502EFI cam and Full Roller VT .... 6500.00 ...m

I'm kinda biased, but I think a low hour 496HO with our 525HP kit is turnkey, sexy and reliable!

You've got me want'in one.

What do you mean turn key, the only thing i have to add is an exhaust for the 496. Which one is a the better choice. How good is the gil exhaust.

496 Mag HO (30hrs) $8400 complete less exhaust
500hp (100hrs) $10,000 complete with gil exhaust.

500HP with the exhaust gets my vote. The boat will have a higher resale value.

100hrs isnt much.....hopefully the motor was cared for. I'd do the 500 too. Seems like one or the other is priced wrong in comparison.

Can't beat the blue, go with the 500.

Carbed HP. They have all the good internals. I have an HP 500 longblock for sale, never been fooled with for $3500. I also have almost all the other parts needed.
