We gotta set up another date after I get back from vaca.

We are having a race on the west coast that's like that race. Long Beach to Catalina and back 77 miles.

They should have a class set up for the ""iron men" boats no bigger than 30ft and stock merc(not racing mercs either ) powerplants(twin Merc496/425 max).
Now that would be old school tough!

First established in 1911 as the “79 mile Long Beach to Catalina Island Challenge”. This was the first recorded Offshore race in the U.S. In the mid 60’S the race was adopted by POPRA founder Bob Nordskog and turn it into the Rum Run race.
