I had a 496 stroker built on a Gen IV block.
My old 454 mag was a Gen V with the fuel pump mounted to the sea water pump/pulley.

I plan on buying a Holley or Edelbrock 130gph mech fuel pump.

Can I mount the fuel pump directly to my Gen IV block and it will "pump"(work)?

Is there a plug to put over the sea water pump where the fuel pump would be? Or is my first hint the plug/plate my engine builder put over the Gen IV fuel pump slot?

Mountig the fuel pump directly to the block would really clean up the front and allow me to remote mount my fuel/water seperator and gear oil reservoir?

If you are mounting the fuel pump to the block, you can use any pump that you like. Its only when you mount to the sea water pump that you have to use the special pump with the different arm. I believe that the mounting on the sea water pump is the same bolt pattern/size as on the block. If thats the case, there are a bunch of people that sell the block off plate.

Make sure that you have a cam with the lobe on it to drive the pump. If you have a cam that was designed for the Gen 4, you are fine. If you went to Gen 5 or 6 design than I don't believe that they have that lobe.

Remove old pump from sea water pump and discard, take block-off plate from engine and mount on seawater pump opening, install new mech 130pgh pump on engine block and hope you have the correct cam...if not you can either drill out your old seawater fuel pump and make it pump more fuel or buy another pump that will mount on there that is a high volume pump.

on my last boat, I purchased the Keith Ekart 120gph kit for the stock fuel pump that mounted on the seapump, got it from CP and it worked great, engine was a supercharged 468ci 560hp feeding a 1050 dominator 7-8 psi all the time.
