I am considering moving back to Las Vegas and only have Lake Mead to boat on...? Can anyone tell me anything about it..? Are there cool places to go by boat..? Lots of go-fast boats there..? I am stuck between Miami, Fl. and Las Vegas...
That being said, I know that Miami has much better boating, obviously, but there are some business reasons why Las Vegas could be much better for me, so I am in a real pickle here....I was in Vegas 7/04-11/06 and didn't have a boat at that time...
Any help would be great...
Thanks!

I have been boating there for 30 years. I live in So. Cal. Mead is not a Havasu Party scene at all. There is only one cove that is popular called Wishing Well. It is a great lake to drive go fast boats because it is large and can get rough. In the middle of summer it is hard to make power. 115 degrees 10% humidity and 1,200 elevation. Boulder basin, closes to Las Vegas, can get crowded but the other end of the lake (Overton Arm and Temple Bar area) is less crowded.

Thats exactly what I was afraid of....Is Boulder Basin hip enough to have a good time though...? I really don't want to have to go to Havasu ever time I take the boat out, you know...?
Thanks for your input....

I boated on Mead for the 8 years I lived there. www.lasvegashotboats.com has a bunch of performance boaters on the lake. I loved it, now big crowds on the beach, boating from March til November, Catalina 4 hours away, Powell 4 hours, Havazoo 2 hours.

Lake Mead rules. It's bigger, so less people on busy weak ends. The times i've been we've met lots of people. I can't think of a better place to go 120+ If you go the right way, you can go for miles at those speeds. Cops are nicer, no decible hassles.
If you want "boobs and Beer" go to havasu, if you want to go fast, or have a nice safe family day go to mead.
Vagas is only 25 min away, lots of boobs and beer there.
Just my 2 cents.

LAKE Mead water level keeps dropping & dropping.
Lake Mead Marina has already sold C-Dock and probably will have to move out of there current location in the next 18 mo.
I moved out here 3 1/2 years ago. At that time I had a slip at Lake Mead Marina and had seen 72' on the depth gauge in the marina, I was told it is less than 35' now.
I had a friend who received a warring for loud exhaust and he only has twin small blocks.

Need4mead,
obviously live at mead so he knows better. lake is always changing because of water levels. didn't overton close? I think it did, ran out of ramp. As far as noise, my friend launches with twin 1250 sterlings at LV Marina, he gets some stink eye, but no ticket. I'm sure people have been cited, but all that is still better, and safer than the Bull Sh****t at hava clue.
Hangin with the family or seeing how fast your boat will go, Lake Mead is still more Bang for your buck. Just my 4 cents$

We always boat mead. Several beaches that are popular. Havasu is way too small for us. Havasu seems much more shallow and the ramps can be unbearably long on the wait times on holidays. Did get a noise ticket 3 years ago. It is enforced.
