I'm out of Westport, CT and I know the waters from Martha's Vineyard to NYC ok.... I'm always interested in finding new spots to visit and would like to hear from everyone what their favorite destination/thing to do while cruising Long Island Sound area waters. Especially good places in the NYC area to dock up for a drink and some scenery/scene/music... or to anchor the night or afternoon for a beach and swimming
Up the CT river is beautiful, I think its called Hamburg cove is a good anchorage for the night. The Harlem river is a cool trip, its like a video game and of course the Hudson goes on forever but I'm not familiar with the good stopping places up there.
Post your ideas!!!

I grew up in Westport. Staples HS 1996. I like going to Crabshell in Stamford harbor, Port Jeff(either to the dunes on the left side of the harbor or the town itself), Captain's Cove in Bridgeport, and this weekend we are going to the "sand hole" over on LI for the first time.

my fave is still the racing the cars on the east river, drifting a picnic near the statue of liberty, and then under the staten island bridge and out to the ocean waves for some real wave hopping, not the stupid chop of the sound. Then back up the hudson, under the harlem river bridge and out the harlem river. You can cruise a decent speed in there and the scenery is funky. I followed a baja through there one year
