I gotta share this with everyone who reads posts in Prop Talk.
Last week I contacted Throttle-Up about a problem I was having with my 36' Express Cruiser. The boat has V-Drives and a couple of weeks ago I bumped the bottom coming in the canal to my slip.
As we talked about what it was doing Julie mentioned that they were thinking about going out on the water this weekend...to the same place I was planning on spending the day on Sunday....Maybe Matt could bring his dive gear and take a look at what is going on.
Sunday afternoon we meet up and Matt puts on his dive gear and disappears under the boat. From the deck we hear a lot of scraping and hammering and banging going on below. An hour later...Matt comes ups up and tells me everything should be fine...take it out for a spin.
As I'm leaving the sandbar I notice something different...the boat isn't shaking anymore and it is responding much better to the helm.
Out in deeper water..I throw the throttles down and chug...cough..chug...vrooommmmm...the boat takes off.
Now this boat is a big ole 25,000# cruiser..it's never seen 30mph in its lifetime. Not until today! After clearing the carbon out of the cylinders the boat has jumped from a top speed of 22 mph to 31 mph. Rev's have raised a whopping 1200 rpm, and the boat actually gets on plane instead of plowing through the water.
Whatever he did...Mat put some magic in those props.
When I asked him what he did...Matt says " I've never done an underwater prop job before...just wanted to see if I could"
Just a little magic...

I couldn't help but laugh as I read this post Ken. This is indeed the first and only time Matt has worked a prop underwater while wearing scuba gear. What a hoot!!!!!!
Not that I will be offering this service any time soon...although I do believe that Matt might enjoy it for a while anyway. I am glad that the boat is running so much better Ken.
I am looking forward to cruising Sarasota Bay very soon!
