Couldn't tell what they went over at first. Now I see it was a spillway. If they hadn't lost control hitting the water they could have made it. I've seen them fly over stranger things than that.
Unless they were riding close to dark, which it seems, and didn't see the spillway at all.
I did similar stunt on a dirt bike. Was blasting down a well known trail in the dark when suddenly the ground disappeared from beneath me. A construction crew had excavated part of a new road and removed 6' of earth. Never saw it coming.

I'm sick and tired of people calling jet skiers idiots. Many "boaters" are idiots. I take great offense to being lumped into this group of idiots. I've been riding since I was 12 and took my boater's safety course when I was 12. I guarantee I know the rules of the water way better than 75% of the boaters that are on the lake. Most don't even know who has the right of way. I grew up on the lake, I've been on boats all my life. I've seen my fair share of idiots in all boat sizes. So quit lumping jet skier's into the idiot group.
