I go 5 mins after it runs fresh. Taste it- not scientific but no probs so far and use salt away!

HA! My friends all cringe when I taste the exhaust on my boat. I run two cups of salt away through it and then let it run for another 5 minutes ish.

Only because I love my neighbors so much,, 15min (or 3 beers) on fresh water then 1 cup salt away...after every use

I also bring the motor up to temp on the hose before i hit the ramp. Sunday mornings - they love that !!!

so most of you feel that 5 minutes per side is not enough..... I usually avg. between 5 and 10 minutes....... never actually tasted the water from the exhaust but will give it a shot (no pun intended) next weekend......................................Johnn y

5 min per motor mybe 10 max. Never had a salt problem. I use salt-a-way once a month or so.

If your motor has a thermostat, you MUST run it long enough to bring the motor up to temp to fully open the thermostat, and flush out the salt water that is in the entire system.

I do the taste test as well.
