Default Silent Choice won't open up

My boat is equipped with Corsa Quick and Quiet exhaust. This past weekend, after switching the exhaust to "on" I noticed it wasn't as loud as usual. After further investigation, I found that the left bank on the starboard engine wasn't opening up. The solenoid tries to open, but closes back up. Anyone have the same problem in the past and what solutions are there?

Sounds like you need a new air pump.

mine has that SAME problem with that SAME motor... turned out the battery was too low to force the solenoid to open fully and release the tension pushin the gate open. Hook jumper cables between your batteries and hit the switch and see if it works..

I just checked boatstoreonline.com and there's a page there that shows an adjustment for the plunger. I'm gonna try that first because it seems like it's opening but then closing right back up. My local boat mechanic says the solenoid is bad, but I can't imagine it opening at all or even trying to open if that was the case. He says that it may not be getting correct voltage as well, but I hooked a volt meter to it and seems to be o.k.

I 'think' it uses a separate internal circut to open, then a secondary 'holding' circut to remain open. Possibly it's the holding circut that is bad.

Did you try swappping the connector plugs from 1 side to the other?

I just went through a similiar problem. I replaced my solenoid after it fell apart during a poker run. When I removed my header, the internal diverter plate was missing. The screws were still there. I replaced the diverter and it now works fine. Just my experience. Good Luck
