Default Want to get into powerboatint-What should I buy?

Ok, this is my first post on this website. I am looking into getting a 22-24 foot powerboat. I have narrowed it down to these options: Powerquest 237 Stryker, Donzi 22ZX, Caravelle 232 SC Interceptor, and a Stingray 230SX. Any advice and knowledge on these lines and is appreciated. I want to buy used and am looking at spending no more than 30k. Thanks.

How about a 92 208 viate? 21' cuddy cabin. I'm the second owner. I have owned it for 6 years now. New carpet, all new vinyl, new snap on cover, upgraded stereo, in the process of completely overhauling the trailer. This boat is mint. It looks new and constantly draws compliments. I just had the drive serviced this spring. It has a 350 mag with thru hull exhaust and a stainless 3 blade prop. I'll include life jackets, anchor flares fire extinguisher.... everything you need to go boating legally and safely. I'll throw in a tube, a set of ski's and a wakeboard. Oh yeah, it has a removeable wakeboard pylon too. I have spared no expense. I have been toying with the thought of moving up for a while now and this is the first time I have actually offered it for sale. If you are at all interested I would be willing to dig up some pictures and talk about a price. I love this boat and will definately be looking for another powerquest when the time comes.

Post some pictures if you could. I'm not really looking for something that old, but if it's in good shape and and has low hours, it's defintitly worth a look.

I don't have any digital pictures, and it's dark so you'll have to wait until tomorrow so I can take some. As far as hours go it doesn't have an hour meter so I can only guess. I can promise one thing, this boat will not disappoint you. My boat has been over maintained if anything. If anything has ever been in question, it has been replaced/ repaired. Wait until tomorrow, you will see.

Thank you for the interest.

I just listed my 97 26 Legend which is in the classifieds section of OSO. Little larger than what you wanted but close to what you wanted to spend. More photo's available. The 237 is a great boat! I had a friend that had one years ago and thats why we ended up buying a Powerquest. I would go as larger as your pocket book will allow as you'll always be looking to move up.

Stay away from the Donzi. That hull is dangerous, it has been the reason for many lawsuits. It spins out real, real easy.
I think you'll find the PQ a better built boat than any of the above. Start looking where MFG's don't think the average person would look. You'll notice the difference in build quality and quality of hardware used.
PQ made a well built boat!!!!

On your list of choices, the only one I'd consider would be the Powerquest...the Donzi would be a .......................distant second, the other 2 would not even be in consideration.

I've got a 237 Stryker (not for sale) that I'm quite happy with. They are a solid boat! Initially I was looking at Baja's since I was more familar with them, but ended up finding the Powerquest and am glad I did.

If you wanted to spend half that much, and have alot more cockpit room. I have a '91 230 Conquest with 410 hours in really nice shape, white & blue colors, full camper canvas, 7.4 bravo I, fully rigged - pfd's, anchor, lines, grille, etc..

Will you be doing more inland boating or out on the great lakes?? If your thinking more along the lines of the great lakes definately go with the Powerquest. Its build quality will be worth it out there. Also, to agree with Fast Forward...If there is a boat that you like in the 25-26 foot range that you can find in your price range you might as well just skip the trouble of buying a smaller one first because you'll just end up in one next year

P.S.
Any powerquest owners going to be out at Coast Guard fest in Grand Haven next weekend??
