ILMOR V10 Experience
I've seen some interest recently on the board about the ILMOR engine. I took delivery of a 2007 24ft Laveycraft with an ILMOR 700 in late May this year. Currently there are 45 hours on the rig and I could not be more pleased. (I came from 930 HP 565 Whipple, 1000 lbs torque at 3700 rpm, in a 27 Lavey cat. Two destroyed uppers in one season, one IMCO, one Max machine. The Max was by far the better of the two).
Three things I like. First there aren't many ILMORs around and it sounds and looks cool. Second the thing starts and operates in a very docile manner around the dock. Third, I haven't had to clean up one drop of oil or antifreeze or belt dust from my engine compartment. This is a way different senerio from my blown motor.
The engine mated up to the IMCO SC1000 perfectly and other than changing the oil once I haven't done anything except polish the intake,exhaust, and pulleys. Much easier and cheaper than paying for and changing out drives. ILMOR tech has been exceptionally quick to answer a question and send information I requested.
Roger Penske usually does things very well and I expect that he will invest much more deeply in the marine business. Supposedly an outdrive and maybe a boat company.
It may be boring to not be working on my boat all the time but after last season, "boring" is fine with me. 93 GPS is the best speed yet, acceleration is wonderful as is fuel usage. Time will tell. Right now I am very pleased. Good Boating. Quent

Very nice package Quent ... wish I could be bored at 93mph! Would love to see 2 of those babies in the bilge of my old school rig 
I have 2 BB with blowers and can def relate to the 'maintenance issues'
