Default 502 dies flat at WOT throttle (Help)

I have a 94 272 w/ a 502 mag efi. I recently had the impellor go out and overheated. I replaced the exaghst boots, plugs, and changed the oil. In addition to that I updated the pump housing and replaced the impeller. The problem I am having now is that at WOT the boat will just die. No stutter or stumble, it will completely die. Also, the fuel filter was changed last season and has about 25 hours on it. The only thing I can think of is that when I put the ne housing on I forgot to bolt down the piece for the fuel system(???) that sits on the pump pulley housing. This caused the boat to die above idle, or so I thought. After replacing the bolts it ran fine all day until later that night when it began to die at WOT. Any advice is appreciated.

Does the 502 mag have a fuel pressure sensor? Seems to be something electronic to me.

Well one of many things to check is see if a purple wire[ignition lead] has melted and is grounding out on the motor somewhere.

Pull apart the VST pump and check the filter screen in there.

Does it start right back up after it dies? My Baja did this once and it was just an inline fuse for the fuel pumps. But it wouldn't start up if that's the case...

It does start right back up. I think it is probably the mechanical fuel pump, have one oredered. What is the VST pump?

Thanks for the replies
