I need more storage space in my 2001 382 and a little less weight can't hurt either. Plus I never use the A/C cause I don't have a genset.
So I am yankin it out this weekend. Any advise? Anything I need to be aware of? I saw a water pickup under the boat in that general area so I'll make sure it's plugged well. Anything else to be concerned about?
Thanks OSO.

Well I pulled it out and there is alot of space in there. Glad I did this. That thing was HEAVY, much heavier than it looked.
I needed some room for clothes or food for a weekend trip to Catalina.
I noticed the thru hull pickup for the A/C has a petcock on it so that shouldn't be a problem. I also taped up all the wire ends. Did I miss anything?
I'll keep the unit in the attic until I sell the boat.

Hi Jody165
Just moved to SoCal from the Cape (Cape Coral FL) and am happy to see other performance boaters here. Prior to moving, everyone said that wake boarding and skiing were the mainstay....and I really didn't see pulling my daughter around Lake Smell-some-more behind my 357SR-1....so I leftit behind the house (covered and on the lift) in FL.
Anyway, it is very easy to use your AC while underway. I am noticing that overnighters here are cool, but underway, poker run, beachd or whatever you definitely can use it without a genset.
I have 6 optima blue tops and an 8k watt inverter that I run it with....well worth the 390 the inverter cost me! But.....it is a LOT hotter in FL, so maybe removing is o.k.
Back to you.....PLEASE....cap the petcock just in case.
On the power panel, there is a breaker for "Air Conditioner" and another "Water Pump". The water pump is 12v, and you should manually trip the circuit for it under the rear seat. No sense in having it turn on and puke rotten water into the cabin behind the head.
At the breaker for the AC, I recommend that you disconnect the wire on the bottom side of the breaker and tape it off....and wire tie it securely to something close by or undo the jumpers on the top side and bypass THAT breaker. Either of those will guarantee that you won't get the livin sheet knocked outta you.

Didn't realize that there was a separate water pump...will look for that breaker as well as disconnect the A/C breaker. Good call on both, thanks.
Bring your 357 out here. Lake Pacific is clean and you'll need every inch of that boat here. The water can get big and there's no inland waterways like other areas of the U.S., Unless you count Lake Smell Some More....
