Question prop selection

I am trying to control the "bounce" on my '91 Baja 290. This boat came with 25 pitch mirage plus 3 blades. Boat is wide at 9ft and heavy in the rear. 21 degree deadrise at transom. 5,000 lbs. When planed out and trimmed as much as I can go, which is about an 1/8 out, boat bottom is still in water 2/3 of the way to the front. Any more trim and she starts to porpoise. Have not put engines on the stops yet and do not know what my WOT is. Frankly as much problems I had with engines, now that I have finally got them straight I did'nt want to go there.I have had them up to 4,400 RPM and was showing 61 mph. This was not on GPS. Engines are modified mark 4 454's dynoed at 460 hp. Must I put throttles on the stops and see what she will do before I can make a change?Does anyone have any experience with the Baja 290? I am planning on keeping boat several more years. Top speed is not really an issue, but that bounce has got to go. Usually cruise between 50 to 60 mph. Gas milage is BAD.

There are different ways of aproaching this problem. Ultimately the top end rpm capabilities will need to be known. Ability to get there may be a issue.

Check the bottom of your boat for trueness. With its age, some hook can be created from storage.

Have the 25 M+ been worked or repaired? The bounce you have may be controled with more bow lift or may need to be controlled with a wetter surfaced ride.

Try reversing the rotation of the propeller. Once that has been tested, we should talk about the results and possible propeller changes in model or modifications.

Call anytime. We do offer test propeller too.
