Anyone ever try cleaning the algee/slime off a boat bottom using Olympic deck cleaner ?
It's a lot cheaper then On-Off and biodegradble. The label says it is good for vinyl siding. I'm thinking of trying it on a small section of the underside.

God Luck....I find a mild solution of bleach and water does better than the store bought deck cleaners. I'm convinced bleach and water is all that is really in those bottles anyway.

For algea, slime and stains on the bottom just use muratic acid. $4 a gallon. Pressure wash it first, then spray on the muratic with a pump garden sprayer. Rinse VERY well, especially the trailer. Also, do it in the street, the acid will eat/discolor your driveway.

It will also seriously kill your grass, flowers, or what ever else that might be growing.

Go easy with muratic acid. I've seen boats that were cleaned with it on a weekly basis and the gelcoat looked like crap. Got real rough and stained way easier.

Double bonus. Then I don't have to mow, and I can spend more time using the boat!

Muriatic acid plus a little soap helps keep it from running off so fast. Some people use a scotch bright pad. I think that is a mistake use a soft brush. jmeng witnessed problems with gelcoat probably more to do with scratches for cleaner pads than the chemicals. Been using acid on bottoms for many years without problems.
