Default Opinions on the sport cruiser.

Friend of mine is looking for a 25-27 boat family boat.
Wants to do some short trips on the LI sound mostly.
Also tubing and skiing.
Wants something on the newer side/low hours.

He was thinking of a formula 26SS.

What do you guys think of this ride?

I've been in a 1999 24 wellcraft sport cuddy a couple of times. Its a good boat in that it rode really well in the rough, but time caught up with. The windshields on the smaller wellcrafts are just crap. The framing is too thin and weak. My buddy bought his new in 1999 and the windshield is very flimsy. My current 24 sea ray windshield and my old 87 24 sea ray windshied look like gold compared to what wellcraft uses on their smaller boats. Seems like there are a lot of other things that are wearing out in my buddy's boat. He is looking to get rid of his boat as well. IMO the smaller wellcraft runabouts just aren't made for the long haul. If he is looking for a boat that size I would go with a sea ray, cobalt or formula.

kinda funny this has a 500efi.
probably not what you'd want for skiing.
29 is too big, and i know this guy wont be traveling far to get a boat... he really wants something on LI, NY already.

The Excalibur is really too long for a singe. It will handle like crap. The Cobalt looks like a good deal, and from I've heard, their quality is on par with Formula's quality.

OK, seems to be narrowed between these 2.
both seem like a decent buy, and good boats.
