Wondering what everyone is using for brakes. What brands work which don't. Hydraulic over electric???

Connecticut's law only exceeds common sense by about 9,000 pounds. Surge brakes only work if there's surge. You get your truck brakes hot on a long, curvy downhill and you're in for quite an adventure.

Hydraulic over electric is best but anything is better than surge.

I'd sure as hell hope not.

I wondered why they don't allow surge brakes. I haven't trailered since I owned a 19 ft Bayliner that had no brakes. Thanks for the answer. Do you know weather one brand of electric over hydraulic is better than another.

Electric ove hydraulic. You will need a controller in the truck cab. I think Myco uses Titan actuators on the trailer. Look in the truck and trailer forums.

I know of a 36ft. Skater Trailer that has air brakes, The air pump is under the hood of the pickup truck. Stops on a dime!
