painting plexaglass??

i got a 94fountain fever.it has a plexaglass wind fairing tthat is tinted smoke.it is haze-cracking .i am toying w/the idea of painting it,or using vinyl graph to cover it.any of you guys out there ever did anything like that before?if i paint what kind of prep,and what type of paint?thanks.

The only reason I did it at all was because of the "crazing" in the plastic. Get a good match from the gel and paint it. You will have to take your boat to a place where they can shoot the gel to match and it should be pretty damn close. Just be meticulous in the silicone removal and installation of all NEW hardware. I went with stainless screws etc. I have more pics of "before" "during" and "after" if interested. Good Luck!

cool pics 99fever27.i assume you took the glass out and preped and paintied it.looks good.i was quoted about 800.00 to do mine.was looking for something alittle cheaper.i might go w/the stick on stuff.

Yes, I took the glass out and did the prep work.I paid a buddy to shoot it. Overall it came out better than I expected. I am not a fan of the vynil covering. The price you mentioned seems high. I did mine for under $200.
