i got a 94fountain fever.it has a plexaglass wind fairing tthat is tinted smoke.it is haze-cracking .i am toying w/the idea of painting it,or using vinyl graph to cover it.any of you guys out there ever did anything like that before?if i paint what kind of prep,and what type of paint?thanks.

Vinyl is your best alternative in my opinon, especially with the computer graphics they can do now.

I would do paint. I have had 2 fountains with the same wind screed that I had painted. They turned out great.

The only reason I did it at all was because of the "crazing" in the plastic. Get a good match from the gel and paint it. You will have to take your boat to a place where they can shoot the gel to match and it should be pretty damn close. Just be meticulous in the silicone removal and installation of all NEW hardware. I went with stainless screws etc. I have more pics of "before" "during" and "after" if interested. Good Luck!

Yes, I took the glass out and did the prep work.I paid a buddy to shoot it. Overall it came out better than I expected. I am not a fan of the vynil covering. The price you mentioned seems high. I did mine for under $200.

I'd sandblast it at about 30 to 40 PSI then prep it before painting with Bulldog. Base/clear should do just fine. Flexibility additive might be a good idea too.
