I had a friend send me this link, I was wondering if anyone is using this on their 7.3L. I've always been told that the 7.3L, needs to be reprogrammed, & not to install a chip. I was under the impression the Edge products are chips, & their tuners, simply change that chip's parameters.
Anyway, just wondering if anyone is using this.

I've got a Bully Dog 6-position chip in my 2000 PSD, and I love it. I also run a set of gauges from Di-procol (sp?); as well as True Flow intake, and turbo-back MBRP 4" dual exhaust.

You can get that if you want to overpay for little power IMO. I guess if you add in the fact that it replaces the gauges, then it seems a little better.
Option A. Super chips, cheap on the used market, great mileage in the performance tow setting and easy to install/remove.
Option B. DP tuner. Specific to the powerstrokes, his chip and programs seem to be some of the best out there. I love mine, and the fact that I can switch on the fly. Makes much more power than the superchips ever did, and some other useful features like no-start, and high idle. I'm not sure where you heard to can't use a chip on the 7.3's. Yes, it will be visible and void your warranty if you still have one.
Of course, you also need gauges. Figure 250 -300 for gauges, and half a day to install. Easy, just takes time.

I have used several product for my Excursion from Diese Innovations: http://www.dieselinnovations.com/di.php
I would highly recommend their 7.3 product to anyone. David has done wonders from my 7.3L.

I'm another fan of the DP Tuner- call Jody and he will customize the tunes to your needs.
There's 80,000+ members over on dieselstop, and I'd bet well over 75% of the 7.3 owners that are chipped/tuned are now running DP after having tried everything else. I know I did- Superchips, Bully, and Edge. Once you go DP, you'll wonder why you bought the other stuff. I have high idle, 60 tow, and 80 economy. There's no comparison to the others I've owned.
The high idle is especially nice for cooling the turbo or running the AC.

Jafo, can you please expand on the 80HP 'economy' setting? What kind of mileage does it afford you over stock when not towing?
The Bully Dog chip that I have has 6 settings.
Stock
Plus 50 HP
Plus 80 HP
Plus 120 HP (holy crap)
High Idle
Valet (stock settings, 70mph speed limiter)
I drive it almost always in the Plus 50 HP setting towing and not towing. I always have a couple hundred pounds of stuff in the bed, and I have a CC dually, so I don't get the best mileage, but if the DP tuner can bring up the mileage by a point or two, I'd like to know what your experience is.
THANKS!

The 80 HP economy tune is meant to give you good fuel mileage and still make some good power up top. It actually dynos at around 100hp, or so they say. I like it, its a nice mannered, fun to drive tune. They can make it with higher tip in fueling for a faster throttle response (caffeinated) or, standard. I have the standard tune, so I can shift easier (6 speed manual).
Switching on the fly is as easy as pushing a button, and its fun to show passengers just how much power the chip gets.
i also have the 140 HP aggressive setting, that is pretty much useless other than blowing lots of black smoke. It runs the stock HPOP out of oil, so you don't make much more than 120hp tune, that I also have.

Again, switch on the fly kicks ass, especially when snow plowing, I can drop the power and get out of a spot w/o the turbo spooling and breaking tires loose.
I get 14.5 mpg around town, and 15.5 on the highway.. thats exact. I calculate at every fill up. I also have 4 inches of lift, 35 inch tires, and 3.73 gears.
Your right foot will dictate fuel mileage also. 60hp tow at 6klbs gets me about 13mpg.. but thats at 75-80 mph, and lots of big hills out here to get to the riding spots we go to.
