Default 1991 31' Scarab Excel at LOTO

Anyone familiar with this boat?

http://kansascity.craigslist.org/boa/472075760.html

Good deal or not?

Has to be AT LEAST a 70mph boat with 500hp per side, doesn't it?

Any good feedback on these Excels?

I've got a 1990 31Excel. I love it. I can run close to 70 on GPS with 365mags.

Sounds like this boat should easily do 70 with the engine set-up.

How is it in the rough? How does it compare to other 31' boats out there? How is the rough water ride compared to a 1990 Formula 292 SR-1?

I think they ride great for 31'. I have never been in 292, but I would pick the 31 excel over the 292--- I may be bias!
Good luck!

Default 31 Excel

I have a 1989 31 Excel with 454 magnums. All stock - for now. I cannot believe how well this boat handles the rough water. Night and day better than my 1998 PQ 260 XL. Test drove it in 4 to 5 foot waves of Lake Erie and it is so much nicer to have a little weight and 6 plus additional feet of boat! Can't wait to test it in Grand Traverse Bay next year.

I'm running 23P 3 blade mirage. Boat is completely stock. Toasted starboad engine during poker run this summer. Looking at building a couple 489 strokers for spring. As far as rough water I haven't had any situations where I was even close to nervous. Even between 50 other boats and thier wakes. I am seriosly considering a newer stepped 38.
