Default Changing from 4 to 6-seater

Cutting out the older 4-seaters to make the new style 6-seater, has it ever been done? If so, about how much would something like that cost and would it be worth it? Was thinking of an older model could be picked up for a song it may be worth changing over the cost of a new one. Any thoughts?
