Mike....I'm looking to...Are you looking for a jet-ski ?......or a wave runner style..the sit downs are better for comfort..I heard sea-doo's are pretty good but I really don't know enough to buy yet.

are you looking for a standup or sit down jet ski? I had a standup Kawaski 650 when I was in college. Great ski, quick, fun to ride. A friend had a Kawaski 1200 sit down that was also fun. Came with trim and the whole works.

A used jet ski is something to be very wary of. Really check it out before purchase. Look on the bottom of the hull for scrapes, look at the impeller for chips, etc.

Mike,
I have a '95 Yamaha Raider I may be interested in selling. Ive only used it a couple of times in the last few years. Always kept it up and actually have a new impeller, ride plate ect. that I never installed. My experience is to go with Yamaha without question, wether it mine or not. I have been away from the skiies for quite awhile and have no idea what its worth.
Anyone here have an idea?

Mike - we have a '95 900ZXI that I think my boyfriend might want to sell. It's in really good shape, but it's "beefed" up just a little . We have always had Kawasakis - that was my high school grad present. Never had any problems with any of them. Kawasaki's are great.

NADA has a site that'll tell you what you want to know.

www.nadaguides.com

Also check www.traderonline.com if you know what you're looking for.
I have a pair of Polaris SL750's and a double trailer. They're lots of fun but tough to them and the boat in the water together. Been trying to talk the wife into selling them. Maybe this year.

Mike,

There are sitdowns and standups.
In the sitdown categorie you have 2 and 3 cylinder models, from 75HP to 150HP.
There are 4 main brands: Kawasaki, Polaris, Seadoo, Yamaha.
Kawi and Yamaha are the most reliable and trouble free (especially in salt water).
I've owned 2 since 1997, both Yamahas, a '99 GP1200 and a '97 Waveblaster II, never any problems whatsoever, I always ride in the ocean and occasionally race. As long as you flush the motor every time you're in salt, they will last a long time.
You should be able to buy a 98-99 GP1200 in the $4000 range, stay away from the '97 GP models, hulls were cracking.
The Kawasaki Ultra 150 is a well constructed, comfortable and quick machine, the '99 can be had for about the same.
E-mail me if you need more info.

We have 3 Sea Doos-no problems at all. And we ride them hard. I know of a rental place on a fresh water lake in MD. that sells all their 1 year old units cheap-we have bought all ours from there. E-mail me if you want the info-might be worth the drive.
