Default Miami Vice movie boat (MTI) sold $175,000?

According to the Barrett-Jackson website (see below) the 2006 MTI 39RM Miami Vice movie boat sold for $175,000, before buyers 10% commission. It was a waste of a movie, but this this price can not be right, can it.

I was watching last night. The package of boat, trailer and Hummer H2 originally sold for $485K, and then for some reason the bidding was re-opened the package resold for $500K. The boat looked awesome with a different repaint from the movie.

I didn't see the re-open, but was shocked at the low price of 485K! I think the owner got a quick hammer, thats what he gets for trying to sell a boat at a car auction. Some cars they held and held the hammer trying to get the prices up. Don't think the 1 M for the first ZR1 was too bad, lots of guys like serial No 0001...

The auctioners are azz holes. Just recently the hammer was down, then the bid is keep going. $25,000 more.
Then the guy keeps the hammer up for an hour. Milking the commissions.

The million for the ZR-1 is sort of interesting, all of the money is given directly to the United Way, Barret Jackson doesn't take a cut out of it. You stroke a cheque for $1 million directly to the United Way, they give you a tax receipt for $1 million less the MSRP of the car....

If you were going to donate that kind of money to a charity, and there are a lot of people who donate that kind of money every year, way not get a pretty cool car with it.

So if you sell it in 50 years do you get tagged for capital gains based on the MSRP, or the $1 million price ? Or do you even get tagged for that kind of capital gain in the States/
