Default Question about summer storage:

I was wondering if anyone knew of a secure place to store a 35 formula. I don’t really want to do the in-out service as I have done for the last 10 years but would rather have the flexibility to keep the boat on the trailer (inside preferred) and pull in out when needed. My driveway will not accommodate as:
1.) I can’t have it extend into the street and
2.) My subdivision does not allow boats in the driveway. Moving was my first choice but my family said no.

Does anyone have some suggestion to type of storage?

Location would be best around the Chain of lakes or Lake Mich…

I am probably asking for the world but was just wondering if there were any other options…

Thanks

Northpoint Marina offers in-door storage for boats on the trailer (as well as rack storage). I 'stored' our 40 Hustler there on the trailer and would hook-up and drop in as needed. The buildings are open and closed at the same hours as the gas dock.

I had the boat there for 3 years and had no issues. I always worried that it would be valdaized or stolen (as you must leave it unhooked), but never had an issue.

For bigger boats like yours, they put you in one side of the storage shed that is huge (maybe 5-6 boats in a 100' x 300' space), so getting in and out is VERY easy (very wide doors). In the three years of keeping the boat there, they only moved the boat one time. The facility has concrete floors, relatively clean, and the Skipper Buds people were very accomodating. Give Jim Wardlow (sp?) a call at Skipper Buds.

skipper buds at northpoint marina has huge buildings where trailer boats are kept. open during the day, locked at night with routine security checks. pull in the building, hook up and 2 seconds later your at the ramp, or hook up and trailer to the chain. not sure if this is what your looking for.

I know of a storage place / warehouse in Wheeling off of Dundee Road where you get a key and you can come and go as you please. There is a forklift to use to help get your boat/trailer into position. Its roughly 30 minutes to the Chain and 30 minutes to Diversey Harbor in Chicago. There are other go-fast's stored there. If interested, I can PM you the phone number as he really doesnt advertise it.

Well it must be that time...

The wife asked me our plans for summer storage. The driveway is out of the question. So how about on trailer storage in the south suburbs. I looked at Water Werks-$75, and Old Plank-$92, last years monthly prices. I prefer 24hr access, but not needed. I can use the driveway occasionally. Inside is not needed, just a safe spot to hide her. All my good indoor storage is a haul, Crown Point or Pontiac.

If you are talking South suburbs, a little farther South is Doyne's Marine in Portage, IN.
24 hour access
indoor,locked
includes ramp fees
water and electric in building

last year they were full because of Hammond being closed. That shouldn't be as much of an issue this year.

Try Ben Watts marina in Fox Lake. He has building where you keep it and if inside it includes unlimited in/out use that you do by yourself. It would be around 2500.00 for the summer season.
