The base plate of my shifter is showing some wear. The black paint is peeling off and I was wondering what I can do to touch it up. I'm not going to replace it just because some paint is peeling off. Wouls some nail polish be the dumbest thing you ever heard of ?????? I apoligize for the ignorance.
Here is a picture to show you what I'm talking about. The grey area underneath the shifter really makes it look bad.
So I've got a nice dash with new gauges and the throttle box is just messing everything up. My trim and tab buttons above the throttles also could use some touch up because the black is starting to grey.
Should I just call a fiberglass or paint for the touch up? And whats a reasonable price?

take it apart and paint it or have it chrome plated (expensive) or just have the handles polished. you ccan also wrap the base in vinyl for a different look.
i had my handles chrome plated and the bases wrapped in black carbon fiber. not a good pic but all i have. polishing looks the same as chrome plating. you just have to watch out for water spots.

Thanks a lot. It definately gives me a good starting point.
You did an awesome job on the dash resto of that bullet. I think I may try and have it powdercoated. Although I'm not quite sure which color to go with. Right now I'm thinking a white base and handles. What are you guys thinking - keep it black with some chrome handles or change it to white. Since one of the needles on the trim tab indicator are broke off I may go ahead and make it white too, or replace it with a white one.
I like what this guy did with the dash on his scarab

Was it pretty easy to remove the handles from the throttle and shifter assembly?
