Question counter top paint

Can you paint successfully on a formica counter top? I know sounds crazy but looking for something different to do to the new cabinets I am building for a 30' baja. Looking for ideas but wanting to keep cost down. Color of boat outside is black from rub down. Grey interior. Thanks.

Sanded and cleaned formica can be painted over with most automotive finishes, I would suggest a high quality lead free urethane maybe Standox or Spies Hecker. You can even base and clear depending how exotic you are wanting.

I talked to a guy at home depot about this the other day. They have a special primer that will adhear to the formica very well. Can't remember the name of it sorry.

I redo Formica counter tops, I spray a primer, then a granite looking stuff, then clear coat it. Looks great I think. I had a guy call me the other day about doing it in his boat.

Cuda that looks great. Do you remember what paint and primer you used? Have been painting my outdrives ultra violet pearl ureathane and they look good. Thought that maybe using that and some yellow accents (yea LSU). Still yours looks good. Thanks for the pics hard to imagine without them. Let me know what you used. Thanks everyone.
