They sit fairly low for a 4 x 4 from the factory.

DITTO, why would anybody lower a 4x4? Thats like buying a twin engine powerboat and taking an engine out. You guys must have money to burn.

I have owned four Surburbans and you would not believe the difference in handling, plus the ease of getting in and out. Wife likes it better also. I did not buy it to go offroad 4-wheeling. Now can anyone answer the original question. Has anyone done it???

You would be surprised at how popular it is. I bet we do about six a year at the shop. It's actually more practical than you would think.

Most of my customers that do it are older clients that are CEOs are large local corporations. They don't get around like they used to but still want the convenience of 4x4. It makes it easier for them to get in and out of the vehicle. Most of these clients get a new company vehicle every year so we do more than one would think.

Sometimes you have to think outside the box. Just because it's not practical for you doesn't mean it isn't practical for someone else either.

We a lift few 2wd vehicles a year also. Another popular thing to do on the west coast.

And to answer your question Roger. Yes I've done it. All the issues that have been mentioned about air ride and so on will not be an issue. The kits accomodate for that.

I did the 2" drop on the rear of my 3/4 ton 4 wheel drive.
Pros:
The truck is easier to get in and out of. (Cab and bed)
Easier to load and unload stuff from the bed.
I prefer the level look verses the rear being 2"-3" higher than the front.
Might just be an opinion but dropping the rear (or lifting the front) tends to calm the back end down with the weight shift.
Handling also should improve, even if it is a 4 wheel drive truck.

When needed I just add 40 PSI to the air bags and my load capaicty is back and the truck is level.
