The 2008 Lake Murray Rally
Just announced: 2008's event will be held on Saturday May 10th!!!
Formerly known as the Lake Murray Poker Run, the Lake Murray Rally is hosted by the Chapin Optimist Club. This years event is expected to draw a large number of boaters from surrounding areas and states due to the water levels of Lake Murray. Details will be posted on www.lakemurraypowerboats.com as soon as we receive them.

The 2008 Lake Murray Rally, formerly known as the Lake Murray Poker Run will be held Saturday, May 10th 2008.

Weekend Schedule:

$20 per hand

Captains Meeting 7 PM Friday May 9th at Lake Murray Marina / Dockside Restaurant

May 10th Rally begins at 9AM you can go to 5 of 7 stops to pick up cards.

Card stops are: Lighthouse Marina, Jakes Landing, Lake Murray Marina, Holland's Landing / Buffalo Creek Grill, South Shore Marina, Siesta Cove Marina, and Putnam's Landing.

3PM Card opening at Lake Murray Marina / Dockside Restaurant / Band and party continues thru the evening

Sunday raft up at "The Hole"


The Hyatt Place in Irmo is offering a special group rate for the Lake Murray Rally. The hotel is very nice and one of the few that can actually handle the boats and parking.

Isn't a little cool that early in May? I might consider coming up but my wife is definately cold natured!

Average High for May 10th is 80 degrees.

LOL! It's the morning that would get her. I'm hoping I can talk her into it. So is there pretty much a weekend deal? How's the lodging situation? Better to find a house to rent or hotel and slip at a marina?

Probably will be right at the point where I can choose between bringing the procharged pachanga 22 or the powerquest 260. Which would you bring...small and fast or bigger but not slow?

Spinners Resort and Marina is another great place to stay on the lake and their condos are literally brand new. This is the first season they are open. The bar and restaurant is the newest addition and best on the lake. It will definitely be the place to hang out that weekend.

You certainly don't have to worry about hitting bottom around here. Lake Murray is very fortunate to be at full pool for the first time in years. It's also a very deep lake with the average being about 50' to 75' and many areas in the 125' range. It's one of SC's deepest lakes with clean clear water and 600 plus miles of shoreline. Lighthouse Marina as well as Lake Murray Marina will have overnight slips available with power and water. "The Hole" would be a great place to anchor out for the night if you want to stay onboard without any expense. "The Hole" is also located very close to Dreher Island State Park which also has 5 Lakeside Villas available for rent.
