Monday March 3, 2008 has been
proclaimed Mike "Gordo" Gordon Day by the Mayor of Shawnee, Kansas.
Yesterday, BankerRon and I attended the retirement reception for Gordo from the Shawnee, Kansas Fire Department.
It was a great day for him. He got a letter from President George Bush, the Governer of Kansas and several local, state and federal reps for his retirement.
The City of Shawnee gave him key to the City of Shawnee and several other awards.
He was also named Firemen Of The Year for 2007.
We are so proud of our Gordo.
He arrived in style in a fire truck with lights and sirens. They had a video of pics of Mike and several were from his OSO racing days.
One of the greatest honors was the firemen took one of the flags that they fly off the back of the truck that Mike drove and folded it up and gave it to Mike it true style. There was not a dry eye in the house.
Mike, Ron and I are so proud of you and were honored that we could be a part of your celebration yesterday. You have come a long way. Great things are waiting for you!
