Planning on a trip on the 4th with a few other boats for the first time in Chicago.How hard will it be to get slips and which marina would be best. Thanks

The weekend of the 4th usually gets pretty crowded downtown for the fireworks display. Your best bet might be to get a transient slip in one of the indiana harbors. Like East Chicago Marina, Hammond Marina, Portage public Marina, Marina Shores, etc.

You may get lucky and get a slip in either Diversey, burnham, jackson, or hammond. But you would probably have to call early and reserve a slip.

Your best chances now would be Hammond to get a group of slips.

The best spot would be Diversey so you can cab ride to all of the bars too.

Hammond is not a sure thing right now. Only half of the Marina will be opening for 08. Not sure how many rental slips will be available this season. The Hammond Marina number is 219-659-7678. Hope that helps.
