Anyone read about this in todays paper.They want to raise the ethanol level to 20% by 2010.Holy crap we are in deep ship.The article clearly says that it takes twice as much fuel with ethanol added to maintain the same level of power as without ethanol.Lets not forget how much is getting pumped out when it turns bad and where might it be going. Your gov hard at work ,now we know what to do with all the corn!

I live in the Midwest and we have had ethanol for years. We do have a choice at the pump between 87 octane(no ethanol), 89 octane E10, and 91 or 92 no ethanol. I can tell you that I have had no ill effects from using 89 octane E-10. I use it 90% of the time. I see no differences in power or in economy between the two. The E10 is 10 cents a gallon cheaper.

Actually if you use gas from an auto service station you have been burning alchol blends since the 70's. Nothing to get too excited about. Fuel system components and engines ae designed to use alcohol these days. Alcohol has been in Marina fuels since the late 80's. Of course if they go to E-85 then you should begin to worry.

That would be alcohol that is used as an additive to disipate water in fuel and the amount is very minimal. The HEET(thats not needed with todays fuels) that people put in their cars in the winter cold is alcohol as well.
