Default Tunnel Tabs On 28ft Cat

I am thinking about adding tunnel tabs to my 280 cat. Is there any advantage to having hydraulic vs fixed for a tunnel tab? What can be expected as far as faster planing time?

I would like to cut the plane time considerably to help save my XR drive. Any help appreciated.

I have them on my 24 WPM cat. I'm using hydraulic ones but most of the time I leave them in a fixed position. If you have any porpoise at slow speeds it will also be corrected.

My boat has never had a hint of porposing. Just trying reduce the stress on my drives. I can afford the 800 bones but for fixed tabs it is still crazy. I can fab my own to the exact dimensions of my tunnels enjoy doing it for $200. I'll save the rest for a tank of gas.

first time a none tried and true tab comes loose and beats the crap out of the transom you will think $800.00 was a steal

Go with the dana Monster tab!
Love it on mine!
HUGE gain in planning time and I can cruise around at 25mph with the tab down.

One huge problem with fixed tabs is adjusting for water conditions. I had them on my old Jet and V-drive boats.
Turnbuckles are a b!atch to adjust hanging over the transom
I will look for a picture when back at home
Otherwise here it the Factory link

the 28 profile is a single engine cat, monster tab will not work,
JRIDER, if you run a fixed tab, will there be any effect on the boat when coming off plane and the rear of the boat sinks, will it drive the nose down? I would like to se what you are building, I would be interested in a set for my 28.
thanks
